"Taylor Memorial Park adjoins Chester Park, along Ridley Creek. It covers 30 acres of land donated for public use by J. C. Taylor. The gift is a memorial to his late wife, Anne Rulon Gray Taylor." (From the 1949 Chester Times Year Book)

Thurlow Memorial Park

"Thurlow Memorial Park, comprising two city blocks on Seventh and Eighth sts., Flower and Yarnall sts., was deeded to three trustees by Fannie S. Thurlow Lane, daughter of John J. Thurlow, whose name part of South Chester bears to be held in trust for a public park to be known as the Fannie S. Thurlow Memorial Park. Temporarily this tract will be used by the Dewey-Mann Schools for athletic and recreational purposes." (From the 1949 Chester Times Year Book)

Thurlow Park

"Thurlow Park, bounded by Fourth, Jeffrey and Yarnall sts., and the Dewey-Mann School grounds, became the property of the city when South Chester was annexed, Oct. 3, 1873. It surrounds the old borough hall, now used as the West End Free Library." (From the 1949 Chester Times Year Book)

Neighboring Recreation Areas and Destinations: Riverview Beach (Pennsville, NJ)

Opened as Silver Grove picnic grounds in the late 1800's. The amusement park closed in 1968.
