Biography: John Cochran

The Cochran Race Course was located on the Cochran plantation (Northeast section of Chester), a series of several adjoining farms purchased by John Cochran.

The judges' stand was on the east side of Edgmont avenue opposite the Deshong Mansion.

The "Chester Spring Races" and the "Chester Fall Races" (two days each) were held here for a number of years during the mid 19th century.
