"The Liberty Klub consisted of a group of young men who played basketball at the old YMCA when the club was formed in 1913. The original group consisted of 15 members and, although new members were added through the years, it was in 1930 that the original members began their get-togethers and banquets every five years, eventually including their wives. This was one of the social and athletic groups connected with the new YMCA at that time. The socials continued through the 1960s.

The earliest [top] photo here dates from the '40s (there is no date on it) and the second [bottom], which included the wives, is dated 1958.

The names of the men are as follows: (same positions as in the original in 1913):

Seated: Charles Morton, Treasurer; Charles Seigel, President; Harry Lodge, Vice President; William Duncan, Secretary.

Standing, left to right: Bill Blackburn, Jess Francis, Fred Grant, William Roberts, David Smith, Irving Hazel, Clarence Andrews, John Wright, Lyman Mudge, Peter Phillips. Not shown: Andrew Kimber was no longer active with the group.
