Quality Market

810 Morton Ave.

Notes: My mother grew up in Chester, living there from 1919 when she was born until 1946 when she married my father. My grandparents William and Jennie Zagorski owned Quality Market at 810 Morton Ave. I am attaching a photo of the market, I'm afraid I don't know the year but I suspect it is from sometime in the 1920s. The woman in the back of the store is my grandmother, the man in the round glasses in the middle of the photo (under the "veal" sign) is my grandfather.

My grandfather was William Zagorski (his records from his arrival at Ellis Island in 1905 list him as Boleslaw which is the Polish name for William but he went by Bill here in America. My grandmother was Janina Glenbocki Zagorski but she went by Jennie. I'm not sure when she immigrated as she was about 10 years younger than my grandfather. He passed away in 1956 about 6 months before I was born. My grandmother died in 1982. My aunt's family settled in Ridley Park and still live there.
