Text of Obituary: Michael L. Burns, 59, of Upper Chichester, a former employee of Witco Chemical, died Jan. 20 at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Born and reared in Chester, Mr. Burns lived in Upper Chichester for the last 13 years. He worked for Witco Chemical Corp., Trainer, for 32 years as a maintenance man, retiring on disability in 1986.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Burns served in battle for two years. A member of Boothwyn Fire Co., Mr. Burns formerly was active with the Moyamensing Hook & Ladder Co. of Chester. He also belonged to the West End Boat Club and the national A.A.R.P.

Surviving are his wife of 14 yeras, Hazel Vaughn Burns; two stepsons, Russell H. Baker of West Grove and Gary V. Baker of Sandusky, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Marianne E. Malone of Chicago; two brothers, Harry Burns of Boothwyn and Larry Burns of Media; three sisters, Margaret Parent of Upland, Catherine Brower of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Mary Minner of Boothwyn; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood. Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Lower Chichester. Calling will be after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeraal home.

Memorial gifts may be sent to the American Heart Association, 408 E. 4th St., Bridgeport, PA 19405.
