Text of Obituary: Joseph P. Landino, 71, formerly of Chester died Wednesday in Villas, N.J.
Born in Chester, he lived there for 66 years before moving to Villas, N.J. five years ago. He was a Navy veteran of World War II with the amphibious division.
Mr. Landino was the head mechanic for the City of Chester, retiring in 1985, after more than 20 years of service. He was the fire chief in Chester for 12 years.
He was a member of the Hanley Hose Fire Co. of Chester, the Keystone State Fire Association; the Fireman's Association of Pennsylvania; Delaware County Fireman's Association; the Sons of Italy, 12th of October Lodge; a 4th degree with the Knights of Columbus 242; the American Legion, Stensen Baxter Post 190; and the American Association of Retired Persons.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Emmertz Landino of Villas, N.J., a son, Joseph Landino of Eddystone; three daughters, Maryann Klemaszewski of Landenbert, Pa., Helen Keene of Plainsfield, Ill., and Margaret Ruth Greenhalgh of Chester; a brother, Lawrence Landino of Chester; three sisters, Mary Lipp of Brookhaven, Ann Bateman of West Chester and Rachel LaGamba of Vale, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Church, Chester. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Bateman Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven.
Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of mass cards, or donations to the Heart Fund would be appreciated.
