(A biographical sketch from a Chester Times or Delaware County Daily Times newspaper clipping, "Know Your Police" from the collection of John C. "Snakes" Boyle, contributed by his granddaughters, Jane Boyle & Patty Boyle.) A former semi-pro football, basketball and baseball player in the Chester area is Laverne Rambo, a Chester patrolman since June 1, 1949. Rambo, born Nov. 15, 1915, attended Smedley Junior High and was graduated from Chester High School in 1934. During the 1930's he played on several semi-professional teams in the area. Before joining the police force he worked for Sun Ship for eight years and Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corp. for two years. He's married to the former Frances Cowan of Chester, and they have two children, Barbara Ann, 12, and Diane, 8. They live at 1105 Baldwin st. Now added to sports as a hobby is photography.
