> How do I send a photograph for the website?

If you have a scanner, you can scan the picture, save as a *.jpg file and attach it to an email to: john@oldchesterpa.com

If you don't have access to a scanner, you can mail a good copy of the picture to John at the address above.

> I sent in some information or a picture for the website. Why isn't it posted yet?

I spend many hours each week working on the website but, unfortunately, sometimes I just can not handle the volume of mail that I receive as quickly as I would like. Please be patient and I will endeavor to get everything added as quickly as possible.

If you don't see your submission after a week or so, don't hesitate to send me a reminder email.

> I contributed some information, why isn't it listed on the What's New page?

It takes a great deal of time to create web pages and to interlink things. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to list and link each new piece of information that I post.

On our "What's New" page I try to list major contributions of information, photographs, and new class reunion pages.

If you are looking for additions of a particular name or business, it may be best to use our "Search Form" periodically for those additions.

> Why isn't my relative or friend's name on the list of Chester Police, Chester Fire Department, former employee of a business, etc.?

This is perhaps the most frequently asked question in emails that I receive. Please don't be offended if your relative's or friend's name is not on a particular list. In most cases, I am not working from complete lists that have been supplied. All of our lists have grown mainly through the contributions of our website visitors.

Once you send me the name, I'll try to get it added as quickly as possible.

> Where can I look for more pictures or more information about a particular aspect of Chester's history?

Most of the information that I have available is posted directly on the website.

You may also want to contact or visit the Delaware County Historical Society research library. (Click here for their hours and contact information.) Many of their resources are also listed here.

> Is there ever an opportunity to meet the webmaster and some of the other visitors to the site in person?

Yes! - We have an annual "OldChesterPa.com Get-Together" held at a different location each year in Chester on the first Saturday in October. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet some of our website visitors and others who are interested in Chester's history. It's allot like an "All-Chester Family Reunion"!

Watch our "What's New" page starting in late summer for news about the current year's "Get-Together" or click here to see some of our events from previous years.

Our 2004 "Get-Together" will be held on Saturday October 2 at the Salvation Army Chester Corps, 151 W. 15th St., from noon to 4 p.m. - I'll look forward to the opportunity to meet you in person then!

> I'm working on genealogy, but this website is so large, how can I find more information about the particular surnames I'm working on?

Use our "Search Form". Be sure to check it periodically as the entire website is always a "work in progress", with additions made almost daily.

Also, feel free to post the name(s) you're interested in on our Guest Book at "The Newsstand". Perhaps one of our other visitors will have some information to share.

> I'm working on genealogy. How can I get more information about my ancestors interred at Chester Rural Cemetery?

Click here to request a detailed lookup.

> Why is there only one page of Chester pictures?

On the contrary, there are actually hundreds of pictures on the website. Follow the links for the categories you're interested in and then be sure to click on any thumbnail images to see the larger version or to be taken to the page where the larger pictures are displayed.

The link to "pictures" on the left side takes you to a page that has just a sampling of the many pictures available here.

> How do I get my name added to the "Recent Visitors" list on the "What's New" page.

We enjoy welcoming all newcomers to our "Chester Family", our little corner on the world wide web.

Click here to sign in so that we can welcome you. Be sure to let me know if you'd like your name linked to your email address. That way friends can click on your name and get in touch with you.

> Who pays for this website?

Contrary to what some have thought, this website is not funded by the City of Chester or by any organization. Ye Olde (and Very Humble) Webmaster receives no salary.

It is entirely funded by your purchases of Chester Souvenirs - books, mugs, calendars, T-shirts, etc. (available at our "Old Chester Emporium") and through your Individual Sponsorships.

What began in March of 2000 as a "labor of love", has indeed turned into nearly a full-time job for me so I am very appreciative of all contributions.

> How can I help to support OldChesterPa.com?

Check your attics, closets, photo albums, etc. for pictures of Chester people, buildings, businesses, etc. that you would be willing to share.

Volunteer to help at our "OldChesterPa.com Fall Get-Together"

Volunteer to submit information such as your church's history (perhaps from a 50, 75 or 100 year anniversary book).

Volunteer to submit a list of the members of your high school class from your annual or your graduation program.

Purchase some of our Chester Souvenirs (books, calendars, mugs, T-shirts, tote bags, etc.) available here.

Consider purchasing an Individual Sponsorship in memory of or in honor of someone.

I have now set up a non-profit foundation so that you can make tax-deductible contributions. Checks should be made payable to "OldChesterPA Heritage Foundation", a project of the National Heritage Foundation. This foundation will support the website, fund additional historic Chester research, and assure the continuation of OldChesterPA.com. Checks can be mailed to me at the address above.

Check back here soon for a clickable link to make donations via credit cards or online checks through a secure website.

Help by spreading the word about OldChesterPa.com. Tell your friends and family members about the website - the more visitors the merrier for all of us!

If you have any information and or pictures that you would like to contribute about Chester, please forward it to john@oldchesterpa.com
