  Levy Furniture Store 2525 W. 3rd St. Charles & Isaac Levy (1956) c. 1930 - c. 1980 "I talked today (5/31/2004) to my dad who is age 90. He told me that my mother purchased all of their furniture there when they got married in 1940. And he also said that my Grandmother purchased furniture there too in the early 30's. Dad said that they accepted payment as low as $1.00 per week on furniture purchases. The store is still standing. Dad said that there was a bar next to it (Columbia Hotel & Bar) and the bar had a dancing floor that was built into the Levy store."

McDermott's Upholstering 1143 Edgmont Ave. William G. McDermott ? - before 1939 "This is a photo of the store front and business truck belonging to my grandfather, William G. McDermott, at 1143 Edgemont Ave. He was an upholsterer. I am also enclosing a copy of his business card. He died in 1939 of pneumonia. On the corner was Davis’ Drug Store [later Burkholder's Drug Store] at 12th and Edgemont. Next to it was Clayton’s Store (ice cream, candy, newspapers etc,) Then was my grandfather’s shop. Next there was an empty lot, and then Bufano’s Garage."

Tollin's (5) 615-617 Edgmont Ave. Frank Tollin (1915-1918-?) ? - 1915 - 1918 - ? A fire destroyed Tollin's store on June 6, 1951.  The store was rebuilt and reopened by November 1951.
