Robert F. Spicer, Jr.
(A biographical sketch from a Chester Times or Delaware County Daily Times newspaper clipping, "Know Your Police" from the collection of John C. "Snakes" Boyle, contributed by his granddaughters, Jane Boyle & Patty Boyle.)

Robert F. Spicer, Jr. was appointed to the police force on March 15, 1950 after working at General Motors in Wilmington, Del., as a metal worker.

During the war he served 35 months in the U.S. Air Force as a radio operator and mechanic.

Spicer, 32, is married to the former Alva Heinzel, and has two stepchildren, Dorothy, 10, and Janet, 8. They live at 1305 Honan st.

He attended the Dewey-Mann and Chester High Schools. Spicer says that he spends most of his off-duty time collecting jokes and perfecting a comedy routine to use at the parties following the annual policemen's ball.
