Newlin Trainer (A biographical sketch taken from One Hundred Years, The Delaware County National Bank Chester, PA 1814-1914) Years in parentheses are years of service as a Director of The Bank of Delaware County and/or The Delaware County National Bank John Newlin Trainer (November 18,
1889-90, July, 1898), son of David and Ellen (Eyre) Trainer, was born in
Lower Chichester, September 4, 1842. He graduated at the Polytechnic
College, Philadelphia, and was admitted to a partnership with his father
in cotton manufacturing at Trainer. In 1885, he was elected president and
treasurer of the Patterson Mill Company, of Chester, and was largely
interested in cotton mills in South Carolina. In 1889, he was a member of
the first board of directors of the Chester Street Railway Company. In
1899, he removed to Chattanooga, Tenn., where he was connected with
extensive cotton factories in that section. Mr. Trainer is now a resident
of New York City. [Obituary] |
