William Eves (1848, 61-63, 1865 to May 22, 1881) was born in Washington D. C., April 9, 1795. He was eight years old when he came to Delaware county. Energetic and possessing good business ability, before he attained majority he became a contractor and builder, in which occupation he was successful. Many bridges in the county were erected by him. He was one of the contractors for grading the roadbed of the P., W. & B. R. R. through Delaware county. He was an incorporator and director of the Delaware County Mutual Insurance Company.

William Eves died April 22, 1881, at Wallingford, aged 85 years.
