(A biographical sketch taken from One Hundred Years, The Delaware County National Bank Chester, PA 1814-1914) Years in parentheses are years of service as a Director of The Bank of Delaware County and/or The Delaware County National Bank Joel Evans (1843-44, 1852-54) was
a farmer of Aston and later of Springfield township. He was County Auditor
in 1840 and 1852. He served as a Director of the Poor in 1848; was named
in the Act of May 1, 1852, as one of the incorporators of the Delaware
Count Mutual Insurance Company. With Jesse J.
Maris, he was one of the assignees of George G. Leiper, and joined in
the deed with Maris, February 26, 1859, which conveyed the land in Ridley
township upon which "Fairview" is now located. [Obituary] |
