(A biographical sketch by his daughter, Kim J. Carroll )My dad, Joe Carroll,
is retiring from 36 years of teaching and coaching - 16 of those years at Chester High School and the last 20 years at West Chester East High School in Chester County. Your site popped up when he was mentioned as a
"Celebrity of Edgemont
Park" (along with the father of one of his best friends still today, Jimmy Hayes!)
I'm not sure if you've ever heard of my dad but like I mentioned above, he was born and raised in Chester, is a graduate of
St. James High School and West Chester University. He returned to Chester to begin teaching and coaching at Chester High School in
1972 where he held many positions including: Football Coach (becoming Head in 1980), Wrestling Coach (began the program in 1975), Track Coach and Athletic Director. He was even the Recreational Director the Chester Housing Authority from 1977-1981. He left Chester High for West Chester East in 1987 where he has been teaching and holding the position of Head Football Coach. In all of his years he has been honored with Coach of the Year in both Delaware County and for the Chest-Mont League. He has also been inducted into the Chester High Athletic Hall of Fame as well as receiving other honors.
Through the years many former players have kept in touch with my dad and have shared with him how much of a positive difference he has made in their lives. He has cared for so many people and in return my family is hosting a Retirement Celebration for
him. [Invitation]
