John Franklin "Frank" & Elizabeth Ann (Clements) Baker

(A biographical sketch contributed by their grandson, Quintin Thompson, Niles, MI)

John Franklin "Frank" Baker was the founder and superintendent of the Chester Rescue Mission.

"I asked one cousin about J. F. Baker serving any churches as a pastor. She did not think so, like me. As to the title Reverend she and I thought that it was more of a honorary one because we have no knowledge that he had any formal education in this line nor ordained by any organization.

Before being converted he was a steamfitter for Baldwin Locomotive Co. and he had a large family, a total of 12."

Quintin Thompson,
grandson of John F. Baker, superintendent of the Chester Rescue Mission
