School History: "School opened in 1909, with Mother M. Felicitas as the first superior. In 1911 the Bernardines were replaced by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. However, in 1917 the Bernardine Sisters returned to teach at St. Hedwig school. "

from the history of St. Hedwig's from the church's 75th anniversry book (1977)

"The "Old" school was the original church and school. Many of us attended the old school as we entered first grade then we moved on to the larger "new" school for the upper grades.

The "Old" school is still used for religious meetings. Polish organizations have meetings there along with our Seniors meet every Tuesday. The "Old" school has a chapel which was used for weekday mass up to last year when we went to only having mass on Sunday.

If only the walls could talk we all had many great memories in these buildings."
