Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and wish all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Last year was a busy year for us, we were at home only about 100 days all year. A lot of it was out of town work, some vacationing and in Nov. we moved from Ga. to N.C.. This year is already starting out like last year, we'll be leaving for Fl. next week to do some work for the R.R., we remodel the CSX rail terminals offices and break rooms. Starting to get a little to old for that kind of work though. We'll be starting our new house as soon as we're home long enough, we plan to do most of the work ourselves, with help from family. Lynne, thanks for the info on Mr. Stopper, as soon as I get off the computer I'm going to get him a card in the mail. I can't wait for the reunion, Sherry, our new address is 211 Mary's Grove Church Rd. Kings Mountain, N.C. 28086, yep, we're in the country. Lynn, Thanks for the news on Lou. I did call, his room is still the same, the number is 610-447-7963. He said that an SUV was in the wrong lane and hit his Ford escort, the police told him, he was walking around with his broken knee cap. He doesn't remember it. Amazing what the brain does! Yes, he is up to people visiting and calling. Can't believe we are approaching another year of prep for the reunion. September will be here before we know it. Happy New Year to All!!

As of today Mr. Stopper is in the step-down unit in stable condition. He was in severe discomfort last night. His recovery is going to be a slow one. His injuries include broken knee, collarbone, sternum, ribs, vertebraes in the neck and a severve facial laceration. Fortunately because of the airbags - he suffered no internal injuries. The air bags saved his life. He probably most definitely will be in the hospital over the holidays. I will keep you updated - I plan on visiting him next week.

Please keep Lou Stopper in your prayers . He was in a terrible car accident on Saturday< on the way to the Holiday wrestling tournament at the middle school named in his honor. He is in ICU at Crozer-Chester. He may be moved to the step-down unit today. I will keep you updated.

It was great seeing you and Doyle, Vel. I was about 6 ft. away from a woman who won $245,000+ on a penny machine. May not be MegaBucks, but it's a nice piece of change!!!! There's lots of money to win here, but it is so much easier to lose! And my history with gambling is that I am always sitting NEXT to the winners! That's why I stay away from casinos and wander into the awesome desert instead. I can't fill my pockets with money so I fill my soul with natural beauty. Next time you visit come spend some time away from the casinos and share the real southwest with me.

I remember singing at the Philadelphia airport! I also remember playing funny roles with Richie - Mrs. DeNoia must have thought I had a good sense of humor! Speaking of humor - did you all notice I live in the 4 highest crime area of the country? Detroit is only 60 minutes south of me if I need more crime than I can get in Flint. Sadly they placed 2nd highest. And last time we were back for the reunion Kelly and I got on the wrong bridge - ending up in Camden, NJ this highest crime in the nation. Must be something about me!

Crystal, At the reunion last September it was so funny - Richie Nichlas actually started singing some of the songs we sang back then. Deborah and I remember what we did each year and can remember the songs too. Does any one remember singing at the airport at Christmas time? It was a big deal we were the only Grammar school to do so!

Yes Martha...I know what you mean. Looking back, a person realizes gullible they were. How well I remember the Circus theme. Our class dressed up like clowns and we had to invent our own individual clown names and funny walks for ourselves. Crazy how I still remember the routine; especially the unique entrance. We all piled out of a jalopy (cardboard prop) single file and did a silly dance to center stage. I can still remember most of the songs we sang for the various shows...(hmmm, should I be embarrassed or proud to admit that?) Ha!

Crystal, Speaking of the "Talent Shows" I remember the music teachers name as Miss Musak. Can't forget that name, the woman who casted me as the "FAT LADY" in the Sideshow the year it was a Circus theme, and then had the gaul to tell me it was because I had a great voice. Boy did she get a great laugh and was I ever that stupid? Anyway, it is great to come online once in awhile and remember how innocent and what great fun we had as kids.

Ah, Crystal, that stage holds lots of memories for me. Remember the Christmas programs when each and every class performed some ditty, and those spring shows with calendar themes when we dressed in valentine outfits or leprechaun suits. A great lesson I learned was ---missing a day of school when it was time to choose kids for roles could make you the TAIL END OF THE OLD GRAY MARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Donna, I remember the picture very well, but don't remember the curtains, probably because that was the year of my "perm" which didn't take. I still have that picture today and can't believe my Mother actually let me to go school looking like that...no way would any of my girls have done that (daughters or granddaughters... I hope we will have enough time to sit and visit this year. By the way, Doyle and I may be flying to Las Vegas on the 12th of Nov until the 16th. How far are you from there? We don't want to do alot of gambling so will try to just see some sights and shows. Let me know

Sherry, Vel and all of the other brave helpers did a great job last time and I am sure that this Trainer reunion will be even better. I just don't know how you will improve on perfection! See you there and stay in touch. I'm going to check my old pictures and see if I can't find something that shows just how much of a Trainerite I was. Hey Vel, remember that 3rd grade picture with Miss Brown at the back of the class and the ugly curtains over the closets. I can tell you what those curtains looked like on BOTH sides! Gee, kids today miss all the fun of standing in the corner and getting VERY familiar with their surroundings!!!!

Here we go again! Our date has been set September 23rd 2006. Our committees last year did a beautiful job. It helps when we all pull together. So many people mentioned names of friends they remember-now is the time to start looking for them. Please help to get the addresses. All suggestions are greatly appreciated, we can form more committees to make it larger then the last one! Hi, Interesting site. I attended Trainer Elementary from 1961 (1st Grade) thru 1967 (6th Grade). Then on to Chichester until graduation. Followed Chi HS with West Chester U and took a job as a police officer in Marcus Hook. After 6 years, I left Marcus Hook PD and went with the US Dept. of Justice and for the last 22 yrs have traveled the world and lived everywhere. Now I'm winding down my career with DOJ (currently in Ohio) and moving back to South Alabama where I spent 10 years. Also married (wife's name is Andrea) and five kids. Still keep in touch with some old Trainer classmates, but most have been lost. This website has re-introduced me to many names I remember growing up around. Good to find it!

Gloria, Sorry I missed you again. I was in Ohio and just flew home on the 12th. Terry is still in Cleveland, Oh. working, I'm not sure how long he'll be there. I'll be flying to Md. on the 23rd to visit our daughter Michelle for about 10 days. Hopefully Terry will be home before the end of Oct because we're suppose to go back to Md. so he can go deep sea fishing with our son-in-law, and possibly do a small job for his company while we're there. Any way it's been a busy year, can't believe it' s almost over.

Hello to all, Just wanted to check in. Terry and I haven't spent much time at home since the middle of March. A lot of out-of-town jobs, been from Fl. to Mass. and everywhere in between. Also bought property in Charlotte N.C. and plan to move up there as soon as our house sells here. Then were going to build our own house. Seems like that's something we should have done when we were younger but I'm sure we'll manage. Hope everyone has had a great summer. Very happy to see that this page still is active and keeping in touch. Just adding something that might interest someone, it is on ebay...Yes, we do watch the items put up for sale ...just in case something does come up that we can use here at Oldchesterpa.
They have a cookbook put together by 4 Trainer cooperative Churches listed there. There are four churches depicted on the cover...Trainer United Methodist, Cokesbury United Methodist, Price Street United Methodist, and Feltonville United Methodist Should anyone be interested here is the link. It has about 5 days left.
Hopefully we will see some of the Trainer people at the OCP reunion on October 1. If you do come, make sure you look me up so I can get a photo for our yearly slideshow. You can't miss me, i have the camera glued to my eye.

Hello All,
I just got back from Las Vegas on Sunday and it was HOT. During the week days, the highest was 115 and the lowest was 113 - I really didn't see the difference, it just felt HOT. Las Vegas makes Dallas weather seem nicer - I'm used to it I guess. Nonetheless, I had a great time there even thou it was a business trip. I had a great time in Vegas!

Hi Vel, Sherry and all the other Trainerites (and friends of Trainerites). Just taking an illicit moment at work to let everyone know that I am still around. My old PC died an horrendous death over a year and a half ago and I just haven't bought a new one. Why I didn't think of stopping by the site earlier is a mystery. Guess I only think of work at work! I did a little catch up reading (and glancing a pics) You really did a terrific job on the reunion. And how brave you are to do it again. I still find myself smiling whenever I think of that day. There are no better moments than those shared with people who touch our hears and jar our memories. I was happy to see each and every one of you!

To Nancy and Larry Long....Nancy, I did not know that the house was built in 1947! I know Leon added this and that-(the backroom, etc) but did not know it was built 10 years before I was born! VERY glad you are ok and you are able to see the keyboard...I was wondering where you have been:-) Tell me more about the house...I LOVE hearing about it! Larry, I would love to hear ANY stories about Leon, etc...He died when I was in the 2nd grade and I STILL miss him! Hi! To everyone , sorry I haven't been on line. I was having some eye problems. I had eye surgery on March 7, 2005. everything went fine , I can see nice &clear now. To Tommy Wilgis , How are your mom &dad? How is Jimmy doing? How are you doing, have any new addishions to the famliy. I wish I could have spent more time with you when you came in for Anitas funeral. We are strating to have alot of trouble with the house, it need's a new roof,and work done on the inside were there is alot of damge from the water.We had to have the chimny taken down to the main roof & be rebuilt from the roof up. The roof is next to do. We have to strip the roof. The roof has shingle over cider shakes, so when it rained the cider shakes would swell which would lift the nails in the shingles.Then when the wind come along the shingles would blow off the roof. Then the bourgh come along say that we have wood showing,which is the cider shakes are showing.But you know how thing are when you have a house built in 1947. If you get in touch with Karen ,please tell her I said Hi. Mrs. Miller grandaugher Laurie is living in her house now. She has three boys, the oldest has three boys also.I hope to see you if you come back here again. Sherry , I hope you are well ,the same for your sisters. I hope that Crysal well be able to come up this summer. Hi everyone! I've been away from the computer for a while. I recently had surgery, but I'm back and catching up on the messages on the web-site. Dot (Kirby) Palmer - you'd be surprised to know many people from classes in the 30's, 40's, and 50's attended. In fact 2 ladies both 90 years young were there. They were best friends at Trainer School and had not seen each other in many, many years. It was so touching to see them meet each other again. Wayne - I only attended Trainer school from 4th grade until 8th grade. I can remember 4th, 5th and 8th grades like it was yesterday. 6th and 7th grades are a blur!! Must be old age.

Hi to all of you and hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. We spent our Christmas in Charlotte N.C. with Terry's family, and our daughter Patty and her family got to come too. We had a pretty good time on our cruise except it was really cold. Don't try snorkeling in 50 degree weather, it's not fun. We all ate way to much and now are paying for it with tight clothes. {Back to Weight Watchers Thursday}. Terry gave me the rest of the day off from work since he had to call 911 for me after I fell and cracked my head open, lots of blood but only took 3 staples to close it up. I'm sure I'll survive. I left for Maryland on Nov. 2nd, we had a job up there to put in 3000 ft of moulding in the new town hall in Laplatta, Md. and were there for two weeks. Sorry I missed you again. Hi Everyone - Well, Eddystone '64 had our 40th class reunion was held Saturday night in Eddystone. It was great. How lucky I am to be at "2" fantastic reunions within a few months. We had a very large "Trainer Gang" turnout at Eddystone's reunion. I gave the credit to our Trainer reunion because it put me in touch with alumni in the Trainer class of '60. Speaking of Eddystone, we held the reunion at the "Lighthouse" in Eddystone. It's Eddystone's community center located at the old entrance to the football field (between St. James "Doghouse" alumni building and the Eddystone Methodist Church. The "Lighthouse" is a terrific building. It's worth the trip to Eddystone to see it. It has an Eddystone memory room filled with pictures, trophies, uniforms, newspaper articles, etc. about Eddystone High School dating back to the 1920's. Anyone from Trainer who attended Eddystone - it's so much fun to see. Here wishing all Trainer alumni a happy, safe holiday season. Sharon

It’s nice being back home. Those training session were long, from 9a to 9p and to make things worse AmeriSuites had ISP connectivity problems; but I learned a lot. It’s a new concept of real estate, mortgages, and financing services; something that Hubert Humphrey wants to explode across the nation. I should make millions on this, right?
Barb, I’ll be in Atlanta again on Nov 4th, - maybe our schedules will match up better next time. I’ll keep you posted. I’m already looking forward to it, it’ll be nice visiting.

I have seen many names from 1962 that I remember well. They make me smile; Barbara, Janice, Debby, Carla, Micky, Warren, Jim Bardsley. What about the names not here ? Butch Chandler, Jackie Wright, Greg Collins, John Collins, Grant Mayer, Fred Mayer, Lenny Mayer, Tommy Nassco Those were not all 1962, but I remember them all. Laurie Hund, I was just reading from the 03' list and saw all the messages about your aunt and uncle also cousin Karen. When I was real little, up to age 4, we lived in the little house next to your aunt across the street. I played with Karen and Mary Jane all the time. We never knocked on doors we would just stand out on the porch and yell" yo Karen or yo Mary Jane. One time your aunt was babysitting me and my brother Tommy while my parents went to the hospital to pick up my sister Beverly after she had her tonsils out. When I saw my parents leaving I tried to climb over a little picket fence on the side of their house, fell and one of the pickets went into the top of my leg. As soon as my parents got my sister home they had to take me to the hospital. My dad had built a small concrete swimming pool in the front yard. I know some others will remember swimming in it. All of this brings back so many memories.

Caroline, thanks for your support and your suggestion for Ginos, I'll have to try it next time I'm up there. My niece, Jennifer, is so sweet that she took me into Philly Friday night for some fun. We went to some jazz place for dinner and music then walked South Street. Next day, Saturday morning, we had Gino's Philly Steak Sandwiches - ah! so delicious. It was great! I had a good time.
For this week, I'm headed to Atlanta, GA - it's a road trip, I should have lots of fun with my friends.

What a special day today was. Gloria Castillo and I had lunch and got to catch up. She shared a lot of the fun (including the airplane game) with me. I'm so sorry I missed it. I just wanted to weigh in with my thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this reunion such a memorable event. Although I know that this was a labor of love, it was a huge undertaking and you can be very proud of your accomplishments. Mom had just a wonderful time and was walking on air for days afterward. You were all so kind and she adds her thanks as well. To those of you that weren't there, you missed a wonderful time. I don't think that I've seen that many smiles in one place in a very long time. Hello All, HELLO Crazy 8,
What an awesome time I had at the reunion! Here it is over a week later and I still have this great big smile on my face thinking of the great time I had. I’m glad I attended; it was worth every penny of it – being that I’m laid off and don’t have a moneymaking job, nor does Sylvia. You had to be there to realized the excitement and enjoy of seeing so many Trainer friends.
It was such a fabulous time, especially afterwards, when 8 of us continued partying there at the Lagoon – Jack and Elayne Oliver, Judy Kyle, Scott Kincaid, Bob and Judy Donnelly, and Sylvia and I. There were times I was laughing so hard that my sides were hurting. Besides having several drinks, we had several games going too: an airplane/moon game, a name game - that I won't mention, a magical hands game, etc, …we laughed so much we called ourselves the ‘Crazy 8’. Plus, the band, ‘Don’t Call Me Francis’ was excellent. I just can’t express in this e-mail how much fun we had and how much I appreciate you all; you had to be there.
I made some great new friends and reacquainted myself with some old friends and great memories. And, needless to say, I sincerely missed the ones that weren’t there; regardless, I still have loving memories of them all.
Jim, Larry, and Nancy, it was such a treat hearing your stories about my dad and mom; I appreciate you sharing them with us. Please keep in touch.

Hi Everyone - It looks like a lot of people are still visiting this website. I read with interest all the messages. This idea popped in my head today. In order to locate former alumni, let's keep this website active until the next reunion. I found I was fairly lucky in finding people once names were given to me. Since we had such a great # of years to cover, why don't people from various graduating classes write a list of former classmates, send it to me and I will try over the next 2 years to locate as many as possible. In the meantime, if anyone runs into a former classmate, share the reunion experience, and encourage them to visit the website. One more comment: In writing an email to Sharon, I tried to put my feelings of how I have felt since the reunion is over. I mentioned that I felt like the Mother of the Bride who plans the wedding only to have it over in one day...2 yrs seems so far away, but I know we all are looking forward to that time and once word is out about how great it was seeing old friends, I feel the response will be even greater. I hope The Lagoon will be able to handle double the group. WOW!!! Did God ever smile on us on the 25th!! The weather was absolutely perfect for our reunion, the food was excellent and the people were so excited to see each other after all these years. Now that all the kinks are out, I'm sure our reunion in 2006 will be even better. Did I see a lot of hands go up for volunteers??? Hopefully, there will be enough money left to be able to have more mementos of the occasion.

Forty years ago when my parents uprooted our family and moved us to Flint, Michigan I never thought I'd see or talk to my elementary school friends, let alone the teachers that impacted my life so much!
Two years ago when I stumbled on the oldchesterpa.com webpage and asked John if he could build a page for Trainer School I never imagined it would lead to finding my long lost friends.
Then I met Sherry Warder and Vel Ware on the webpage. They thought a school reunion would be "doable" and the ball started rolling! It was a dream come true to a displaced "Trainerite"! Thank you both for the tremendous amount of time you both put into pulling off a party that no one will forget. And thank you to Sharon and Crystal for all the behind the scene help.
Our reunion was different then most school reunions - everyone was eager to share "remember when" stories. It was so much fun to walk by different groups of people reminiscing about science fair projects, the Nixon/Kennedy elections, sledding down Chestnut St., going to Fehl's and Ben's, music lessons learned from Mrs. DeNoia, school plays, Joe the cop and so much more. No matter what the age, we all shared a wonderful childhood in Trainer.
It was great to see so many class of '64 folks (I think we ended up with 11 or 12 of us there).

Valerie, know the feeling of lost sleep, had a family get together Sunday abt 60 people, luckily, did all the prep on Saturday morning b4 school reunion. Janice Medcalf, thanks for the input. Maybe, we can delegate someone to find their classmates, also, make the name tags with the yr. Next one will be much bigger. Thanks to Vel, Lois and Sharon for finding people. The word is out abt the reunion, so those younger ones can get started finding classmates. We had 253 people this time. For those of you who didn't get a booklet, please send your e-mail address to Kristal51bbq@aol.com she can send it to you. (I haven't told her this yet, oh well, we're family!) One thing that needs to be changed is the location of the dj, we didn't have a very good sound system, many people couldn't hear what was said. "Trial and error" better next time! Sharon Mast wrote a beautiful 3 page letter abt the 3 generations of the Mast family in Trainer. Gloria Costillo wrote abt the different parents she remembered, it got lost in the noise. Paul did a fantastic job , thank you, Paul. Guess my best thrill was being able to hollar at Mr Desmond and Mr Stopper to move and stop blocking the door. To think, Mr Stopper told me I yell too much, never thought I would be able to show him I'm still a "loud mouth", it got them moving. Debby, Karla, Barb, we can start on our Chi reunion whenever. Hi Everyone, Just got back into Denver and boy am I suffering from some serious jet lag! I just wanted to say that I had the greatest time at the reunion and I'm so grateful to those that though of it and put it together. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! It was so wonderful to see everyone and and talk about the old times as well as chat about the current times. I agree...we need to do it again and I'm more than willing to help out. I'm sure the initial push was brutal but now that it has been done once some of the work can be delegated to those who wish to help with some guidance from those who have done it already. But I'm thinkin' there will be a lot more people in attendance once they hear how great it was from all who were there this weekend. two years sounds about right to me also. Hi All, I have Loved reading these messages! They do bring back so many memories of Happy Times! Charlene, Valerie, Marilyn, just to name a few and everyone else in the Class, Gee, I thought everyone knew where they were when President Kennedy was shot, wasn't that a Trivia question or something? Well, we were in Mr. Stopper's Fifth Grade Class, when we received the Sad, News! I also remember that was the year Mr. Stopper got Married, and our Class gave him a "Bridal Shower" and I think, he was quite Surprised! Oh, What a Great Teacher he is! Wish more Teacher's were like him. Two summers ago, I was telling my Twin Girls about him and the neat way he had told us to remember to spell, onion -- on-i-on! Don't you know, that was one of their spelling words in SECOND GRADE, my how times have changed! I also remember how, Mr. Stopper used to take us ice skating at Springfield Country Club, and the Trips out to Lenape Park! They were the Best Times! I'd never imagine, we'd end up living and having a house built on four plus acres, a couple of blocks from the old Lenape Park! Then, our Class had Mr. Stopper again in Seventh Grade, the last year we attended before going to Chi! I remember, Mr. Stopper had planned a Trip to Hershey Park for us and the day came for us to go, and the Park was CLOSED that day, so we Toured the Hershey Park School, that Mr. Stopper had attended and walked around the Town of Hershey, with the street lights looking like Hershey Kisses, it was very Quaint! We, also stopped at an Old Fashion Ice Cream Parlor and had a fun day, even though the Park was closed! Also, Mr. Stopper once told us, if we ever met a Teacher we had, not to expect them to remember us, as they taught hundreds of kids, even though we may remember them fondly! He also planned, the Hawaiian Luau, for our class, as we were not going to go to eight grade at Trainer, an attend the Prom, ect! What a Great time we had decorating and attending! Also, the Friday night Dances, and us girls doing the "Line Dances" back then, which were "run" by Mrs. Eisele! What a Wonderful, Woman she was for donating her time to do them, and giving anyone who needed a ride home, a ride, as she was only too Happy to oblige! She always drove me to the other side of ninth street, and then I was allowed to walk with my friends! To, Marilyn Thomas, Yes the Parker's did move into Charlene Cheyney's house when she moved after fifth grade. Sandy and Joey were married and never lived in Trainer, Pammy, soon followed them, Bruce, Ronny, and Bobby, started school at Chi, and Ricky is the only one who attended Trainer School. We visited them this summer and I told Ricky about the Reunion and his E-mail is on here somewhere! Charlene and Paul, I haven't seen you, since you both were driving through Trainer, back in the early seventy's and I was over visiting, and walking towards the basketball courts and you all stopped to talk, it will be Nice to see you both, Again! Bonnie Okon, Nice to hear your having a Great time living at the Beach, Bobby and I used to go down that way and spend a couple of weeks around that area. Haven't seen you, since you stopped around, when we were living on Second Ave; in Chi! We'll have to catch up! Well, enough reminiscing, see everyone at the Reunion! I can't wait to get back there to check in with all you guys. That area has changed so much. Every time I come home to see Greg he has to give me directions all over again to get me places. I do miss the area . The only thing I can't handle is the humidity. You would not believe the difference out here. I hope it's very much Autumn when I get there. Bonnie Okon, the dress is casual, it has an outside deck, the dance floor is inside, food inside, also. Hi everyone, can't wait to see the faces of some of the names who have signed in. My sisters, Cheryl Mullett and Susan Okon are also coming to the reunion. Should be lots of fun. Cheryl went to Eddystone, Sue to Chi. Haven't seen to many of my classmates on site, hope more show up. Thanks to everyone who has made this possible. I think it is great. Still go back to Trainer to visit my mom (same house on Chestnut St.) and now my son bought a house there. Will always love that place and I have great memories. Hope to see everyone real soon.

Please allow me to intercept, I’m Gloria, Sylvia's older sister, you may remember me. In answer to your question, yes, our parents were Joe and Lupe; dad past in '87 and mom in '91. My dad loved you guys; he thought the world of you all. He would advise me to take my car to ‘Frank’s boys.’ So, yes, I remember your auto shop very well because I did just as my daddy told me. (hee hee) I used to stop by there for you and your brother to work on my '55 Ford Belair. My next car was a '66 Chevrolet SS Impala with a V8 engine (and bucket seats that I loved) which was fast enough as it was, but you were tempted to customize the speed even more. You even wanted me to join some kind of car racing event, do you remember any of this? Those were the days, some great times!
Additional trivia: My Ford Belair only cost $75.00 as a used car (10 yrs old at that time) and it was in great shape after you (Frank’s Auto Repair) tuned it up and Sylvia custom-made seat covers for it. (lol) I loved it! Thank you both for the great memories. The Impala, on the other hand, was a newer car and financed thru the Sinclair Credit Union, a loan of $2,500 which I repaid at $25.00 per week – what a deal! Can’t find them anymore… Even thou, I’ve always had other great cars with lots of speed; I have to say that those two were my favorite because of the great memories of driving all over the place. Boy! Don’t I wish I had kept them both?
Do you still work on cars? Do you have any Muscle Cars? We’ll have to talk more at the reunion I have some questions of what you may have done to my Impala as told by my dad. It could have been a scare tactic so I won’t speed or his way of protecting me by taking away some of that speed – I don’t know.

Hi everybody, I just wanted to ask how many people are staying at the motels/hotels in the reunion area? I can't decide whether to rent a car or rent a room. My brother, Greg Collins will not be able to make it. He will be out of town. I was really disappointed because we don't get the opportunity to do things together like this because of the five years in our age difference. I will be there and can't wait to see everyone. The only one I have been slightly in touch with is Brenda Kincaid so I haven't seen anyone in a long, long time. It's so great to see everybody's comments. They bring back so many memories.
Sylvia Castillo, I was so glad to see that you were coming. I don't know if you remember me but I remember our fathers working at Sinclair and your mom being the mom that I was assigned to for one of our class trips. I don't remember what grade that was but she was so beautiful!

Wow, no electricity for 5 days and I come back to lots and lots of new reads and folks. It is really great to hear from all the new people. The reunion will be an especially blessed event after the past week. Yes, we did get quite a bit of damage and will have to have some walls and ceilings taken out because of water damage and 2 large trees fell onto our property, but we are just thankful we are all safe and are not nearly as unfortunate as our neighbors to the east. The coming weekend appears to be going to test our patience again and we will be starting to board our home up as soon as we see if it will be coming at us. We Northerners are not very resilient and we have to admire the Floridians who rebuild and rebuild again. I had no idea what they went thru year after year. Please say a prayer for all of Florida that we will continue to be as fortunate as we have been that more lives have not been lost.

Hi everyone, I have really enjoyed the stories. My dad worked for Sinclair and was transferred from Texas to Trainer in 1961. I was expecting Trainer to look like the Pocono's. We arrived on December 1961 right after the largest snow storm. The streets were covered with mountains of black snow. Everyone was so friendly the day I arrived in my new class room (Mrs. Hurt). They all surrounded me and all the boys asked if I had seen any cowboys and Indians. I went to Trainer for Second, Third and Fourth grade. Yes, I also had all the great memories of Al's store, Cox's pool, the flute, school plays, Peteasing the turtle, Indian head nickels, how to knit, Joe the cop, the boy and the sled accident... Sinclare would have a picnic ever year at Riverview Park for $1.00 we would enjoy all the ice cream, hot dogs, sodas and free rides, now that was a blast. The people I remember are Chippy Cole, Francis Fritz, Marilyn Thomas, Margie Cole, Bobby Graham, how about Elaine & Barbara Hurst their sister they called Sissy, Howard Lamplou, Beth, Nancy Stokly, Jeffery Edge, the Boy across the street from the Edge Home with the St. Barnard and he would ride his dog to school everyday. I believe his name was Bobby. Anyway, I am planning to be at the reunion see you all soon. Sylvia

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the great Trainer School reunion. Sharon Mast, you never invited me to any of your birthday parties. Harry Beck, you scared the living Ba-Gee-Bies out of us girlies walking under the 'bridge' - throwing stones and stuff - where was "Clemmy Williams" (The Fonz of Trainer) when you needed him. Marilyn Plummer you use to squeeze my arm until I thought it would fall off. Could never roller skate on the side walk (7th & Main Sts.) The best experience I had at Trainer School was in 8th grade - Spring of 1960(?) while sitting quietly in classroom next to the library - PATSY NICHOLAS (bless her heart) came to the door calling loudly to Mrs. Wilkinson "CLEMMY WILLIAMS JUMPED OUT OF THE LIBRARY WINDOW"!!!!! Life stood still what seemed forever.......as Mrs. Wilkinson chair went backwards in a crunch, her arms and legs suddenly resembled a fan she finally was thrust into space - landing at the class room door - fearing the worst ......Patsy had the greatest laugh on us. Life was short for Patsy, I will always remember her and her zest for life. She always made us laugh...no, Clemmy did NOT jump. What a guy. I live in Exton however, within this year I'll be moving to Lewes, Delaware...I have too great kids - Dr. Zagorski (grad. of Drexel - 3rd generation) and daughter Amy. I was widowed at 32 and have never remarried. Mr. Desmond, I will always remember your kindness and gentle way - bet you're still as handsome as ever. Love to hear from you......Growing up in Trainer was the best - it was the best of Norman Rockwell and Happy Days...wonderful memories. 1968 Chichester year book
I know this is a far reach but I'd thought I'd give it a try.
We moved to Michigan in 1964, they year I graduated from Trainer Elementary School. If we had stayed in Trainer I would have graduated from Chichester in 1968.
In July when I visited with Trudy Lewis and Sherry Warder we had lots of fun looking through Trudy Lewis' yearbook. So many memories! It was great to see what everyone looked like back then.
Does anyone know how I can get a copy of the 1968 yearbook? Or even a 1967 one?
I've watched e-bay to see if one has been put up for sale, but no luck so far.
If you have a sister or brother or maybe an ex-wife or husband that graduated in '68 and they don't want their yearbook anymore, I'd love to buy it.

Mrs. Morrison our 3rd grade teacher called me when she saw my picture in the paper. Mr. Maynard's son graduated from Ridley Park with me and I saw him at graduation. What a wonderful life we had. Kelly Thomas - I have an old picture of a Lennox Park Firehouse banquet. It isn't dated but is sometime in the '60's. It's a large group picture (over 100 people). I'll be bringing it to the reunion. You may find your grandfather in the picture. I know Sherry Warder's mom and dad are in the picture. So are many familiar faces that I can't put a name to. I also have an old Boy Scout group picture taken in the old Block Hall of Trainer Methodist Church. Does anyone remember that building? We used to get our snacks in that building when we went to vacation bible school. I have a group picture of Trainer Methodist vacation bible school from the 50's. I'll bring all those to the reunion. I graduated from Trainer School in 1953 and went to Ridley Park HS until June 1955, then moved to Claymont, Delaware. I lost track of all my grade school friends after that. Thanks everyone for your prayers. I lost my best friend, my husband, on Aug 4th. He was only 53 and in the parking lot of the Tweeter Center in Camden, N. J. and was getting ready to go in when he had a massive heart attack and died.I was going to attend the reunion, but I just don't have it in my heart at this time. He was even coming with me and didn't know anyone. That's the kind of man he was. Thanks again and have a wonderful time.

Hey, thought it be best to put the directions on the web-page Exit 9A off I-95 go south on rt420(Wanamaker Ave) for a half of mile. You will see a HUGE sign that says "The Lagoon". Wanamaker Ave dead ends almost into the Lagoon on the right side. It is the old Walbers on the Delaware for those of us that remembers Walbers. Also, Industrial Highway (rt 291) for those of you that are staying in Philly, turn left onto Wanamaker Ave, turn right on Wanamaker ave if you are coming from Trainer- Chester area. Actually, the Industrial Highway has been improved, it helps to know that in case I-95 is backed up. Hope this helps everyone. AJ and Brian, thanks for the visit, Aunt Dot was thrilled to see you. Hope you make the reunion. Sure wish we could reach some of the classes that are younger, those that had to transfer to Marcus Hook are included, we need the names, or just call your friends and tell them. Vel - I can appreciate you and Sherry being concerned about a large number of people not prepaying. I have a friend who was on the Rez committee and the day of their 1st reunion over 100 people who didn't pre- register showed up. They made out OK because their it was a bring your own food and beverage. With our reunion we'll have a big problem if that many people decide the last minute. It's better to accept checks into Sept. so we can have a accurate count. We want it to be the best day it can be and so everyone can have a good time and feel happy when they leave. So, all you Trainer classmates send in your money so you can be counted!!! Here's to a great reunion!!!!

Great to see so many new names. The information on the reunion has really been going around. ANYONE who ever attended Trainer School is invited. If you did not receive an invitation, YOU ARE STILL INVITED and WE WANT TO SEE YOU.
The only other concern that Sherry and I were talking about this Sunday.. that a lot of folks want to pay at the door. We would rather you send your checks in all the way up to a week before the reunion than to have too many paying at the door. From what I gather, the restaurant will prepare food for so many extra and we cannot afford to pay ahead for too many people who may or may not show up. We want to make sure there is plenty of food and drinks for everyone. The buffet sounds super. There will be roast beef, 2 different kinds of chicken, 3 different salads, including tossed and a huge fruit bowl.
So Please get your checks in if you are planning to attend.

Didn't move far. Attended Trainer, 64 to 70. Graduated Chi in 76. Since I only lived half a block from school, always looked forward to this time of year when the school janitors went up on the roof to check it out for upcoming school year and threw all the balls off they found. Has anybody heard what's up with Jeff Voshelle, Dave (Bulldog) Curry, Joe (Peanut) Smith, Eddie Miley, Dennis Miley, Rick Corner. I recognize a lot of the teacher names, but one absent is Vernon L. I want to share a funny reunion story. I won't use any names. I went out to lunch the other week by myself to a local diner. I sat at the counter and a younger man who attended Trainer School sat down next to me. We started talking about the reunion. He said he was going. I knew his mom had gone to Trainer School, too. When I asked if she was going he answered "No, she's afraid she'll be the oldest person there. (she went in the 1950's). I said are you kidding!!!! Why people who attended in the 1930's and 1940's will be there!!!! Call her on the phone and tell her to send her money in, we're going to have a GREAT time. Old faces - young faces it doesn't matter. It's going to be so much fun!!!

Bob, John and Jim are all my brothers and have already sent their checks in for the reunion. I know they will enjoy visiting with you that day.
Again, Bob gave me the list of all the kids who were in his graduating class so I found most of them also. I never realized how helpful it would be to have a large family until I started trying to find names from all the classes. With 11 brothers and sisters attending Trainer and about 8 nephews and nieces and a few cousins, I was able to find a few names to hopefully have every year represented on the 25th. It has been alot of work but also much more fun than anyone can imagine. The valuable time talking with old friends on the phone has been wonderful. I even spoke with Geraldine Collison who has called numerous times from Texas and Edna Collison from NJ. (That was for you, Carl).

The messages on the web-site are really picking up. We have tried really hard for over a year to locate people and their addresses. We had info put in the Trainer Newsletter and Chi Channel with my name and phone # to get the word out about the reunion. It's really been a fun process. I've even run into people in store parking lots. If they looked like a familiar "Trainer face", I would ask if they went to Trainer School and write down a name and address. I started to feel like a detective!!!!! Since it's so close to the reunion, Vel's idea is great. If anyone asks about the reunion, just share the info you have.
