Hello, Classmates. Sorry to miss the 50th as I'll be in New Zealand on vacation on that date. (I never would have dreamed in 1956 that 50 years later this would be my reason for not attending!) To those who attend, more power to ya. Many of us moved far away from Chester after graduating from CHS or from college. I'm one of them, Penn State, Class of 1960. Left Penna. in 1962 and never considered returning. Have been back for short visits only about four times in all the years since then, but never back into Chester itself. Was in West Chester a few days this summer with my husband of 30+ years, had a hoagie (the item I miss most), and left again. (Remember Spiro making hoagies and steaks at lunchtime a block or so from CHS, working hard during school and still attending and studying?) Have wondered about how old friends fared over the years but have been unable to return for the reunions. Not to worry: I have never returned for a Penn State reunion either. As with you, we were busy living our lives, and mine was mainly in California. We got our foundations in Chester, have fading memories, but never forgot the various state basketball championship attempts with outstanding teams and our good friend, and true friend to all of us in those days, Horace Walker. And Dr. Jordan, Mr.Egan, and other outstanding teachers. All of you still surviving should be proud of what you accomplished in graduating from CHS in those days. We got a better education than students now (yes!), were more respectful of the opportunity, and were helped along by teachers who made their classes mean something. Most of them. To the guys in Voc with their t-shirts with rolled-up sleeves (to hold their cigarette packs) and their chopped and channeled cars -- good for you, too. Most kids now who are your age then can't even figure out which end of a screwdriver to hold. Or what to use it for. I keep my '56 Annual handy and look up names that are posted from time to time. June Locke and I oughta know: we were co-editors of it. So have a blast, make a toast to all who are still around and another to those gone in the years since. I want to update you on the progress made regarding our 50th Reunion. Our 50th Reunion will be held on October 21, 2006 at the Airport Ramada Inn. We will have a brunch, also at the Ramada Inn, on Sunday, October 22, 2006. There will be rooms blocked off for our classmates who wish to spend the night there instead of going home and returning for the brunch and also for our traveling classmates. Tickets for the brunch will be sold separately, giving our classmates the option to attend both functions or just the Dinner-Dance on Saturday evening. Our first mailing will be going out early February 2005. This mailing will not only be used to inform all classmates of the reunion, but will also serve as a tool to check the addresses we have for accuracy. In addition to the mailings, we will use this website to keep all informed of our progress in planning our reunion. We want our 50th Reunion to be special, but we also want this reunion to be affordable for all. We will keep the ticket costs as low as we can. The main purpose of our reunion is to have as many of our classmates attending to renew old friendships and to once again see our classmates and chat about the old times and also the present. We had a great time at our 45th Reunion. The food and service at the Towne House was
everything we had hoped it would be. The highlight of the evening was when Paul Walker,
Jay Kirven, Nils Anderson and Classmate Earthlene Greear Jackson's husband, Cliff,
performed some of the fifties top hits and Shirley Leyman Samara sang some hits from the
fifties. We danced while they played and we were suddenly back at old CHS dances. Wow, how
the memories came back. It was great. Ron Bond did an excellent job. He is truly a
gentleman. I think the fact that all of the committee members enjoyed themselves says
something about the affair. We have received many of the questionnaires back. We are
hoping to receive many more. Many classmates have expressed a desire for our 50th Reunion
to be held in five years at the shore. It was suggested that we make a weekend of it. A
spot that was mentioned several times was a place in Avalon, N.J. Don't forget to let us
know your feelings about the 50th. Nils Anderson and Dolores Hinckley received gifts for

N.Y.) are now known as the Fred and Ginger of the CHS Class of 56. You name it, they
danced it. I'm looking forward to seeing the video. The staff of the Towne House commented
on the friendliness of our class. I always felt that we were a good group and that we
share many good memories of high school. I guess it is pretty obvious that our 45th was
very special and enjoyable to me. John at oldchesterpa.com has told me that this site (our
own class site) will remain in place. Let's use it to stay in touch and to keep our
classmate's information current. I'm ready to do it again!
