Martin B. Slezak, 64, of Chester, a retired filtration engineer, died Aug. 1 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland.

He was born, raised and educated in Chester and was a lifelong city resident. He was one of 10 children of the late John and Mary Konopka Slezak.

He was a 1953 graduate of St. James Catholic High School.

Mr. Slezak worked for 28 years as a filtration engineer at Worthington Steel Co., formerly National R??ing Mills of Malvern, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Blessed Katharine Drexel Church in Chester and its predecessor, St. Robert's Catholic Church.

Mr. Slezak was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 242, and the Felton Fire House in Chester for 27 years.

He enjoyed spending time at home with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Ruth C. Lee??? Slezak; three sons, Martin J. Slezak at home, Rob T. Slezak of Chadds Ford and Christopher J. Slezak of Chester; two brothers, Walter Slezak of Boothwyn and Adam Slezak of Brookhaven; two sisters, Mary Ro??? of Chester and Laura Bregande of Gradyville; and ??? grandchildren.

He was the brother of the late John Slezak, Edward Slezak, Theodore Slezak, Sophie Mills and Stella ???letteri.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday in Blessed Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 20th and Providence Avenue, Chester, where friends may call 9:30 - 11 a.m.

Burial will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, Valley Forge.

Memorial gifts may be made to Blessed Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 20th and Providence Avenue, Chester, PA 19013.

Arrangements are by Ward Funeral Home, Linwood.
