Text of Obituary: 

Joseph H. McCarty, 71, of Brookhaven, died Dec. 8 at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

Mr. McCarty was a foreman for Teledyne-Wirz for 50 years, retiring in 1991. He was an Army veteran from World War II when he served in North Africa. He was a life member of the Felton Fire Co. He was born in Chester, and lived in Brookhaven for 38 years.

Survivors: wife, Lois Buckman Carney McCarty, four sons, John Carney of Chester, Wayne McCarty of Aston, William Carney of Brookhaven, Joseph McCarty Jr. of Brookhaven; two daughters, Sharon Stabb of Brookhaven, Lois Fida of Eddystone; one brother, John Hughes of West Grove; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Minshall-Shropshire Funeral Home, Middletown and Knowlton roads, Middletown Township.

Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial: Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood.

Notes: Mr. McCarty was born March 3, 1927
