Text of Obituary: 

James J. Carr, 81, of Coatesville, died on Feb 9 at Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville.

Born in Chester, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth McBride Carr, and a graduate of the former St. Robert's High School.

Mr. Carr resided in Chester all of his life until four months ago, when he moved to Coatesville to live with his daughter. He retired 17 years ago from the Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland, where he was employed in the security department for many years.

He was also employed by the Chester Water Authority and the Chester Police Department. Mr. Carr was a longtime member of the Goodwill Fire Company of Chester.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Osbeck of Coatesville; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late James J. Carr Jr., who died in 1982.

His Christian Burial Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Carr Funeral Home, 935 S. Providence Road, Wallingford, where friends may call after 8:30 a.m.

Burial will be at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Maryknoll Missons, Maryknoll, N.Y.

Notes: Mr. Carr was born 8/31/1914.
