Text of Obituary: 

Ottavio L. “Tavy” Calvarese. 70, of Aston, a graduate of St. James High School and a guard at Scott Paper, died Aug. 7 at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

Born in Chester, Mr. Calvarese served in the U.S. Army after attending St. James. He went on to work as a guard at Scott Paper for 28 years until his retirement. He served as a lector at Immaculate Conception of Lourdes Church in Marcus Hook.

Mr. Calvarese was a member of the Sons of Italy 12th of October Lodge; the Columbus Center Association; the Franklin Fire Co. and Bayberry Cove Condo Association, where he was a past president.

Mr. Calvarese was married to Jeanette Oronzio Calvarese, who died in 1997. He was the father of the late Jeffery Calvarese and the step-father of Albert "Cappy" Hill Jr.

Survivors: Mother, Phyllis Gatta Calvarese of West Chester; daughters, Lynn Marie Keenan of Chester and Cindy Iacono of West Chester; stepdaughter, Kathleen Trazzera of Middletown; son, Ottavio "Tavy" Calvarese Jr. of West Chester; brother, Louis Calvarese of West Chester; sisters, Constance Castaldi of Wallingford, Veronica Barbato and Clotilda Mack, both of Media, Josephine Stankavage of Glen Mills, and Phyllis Higgins of Windsor, Conn.; six grandchildren.

Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Immaculate Conception Church, Marcus Hook.

Visitation: After 7 p.m. Tuesday, Minshall-Shropshire Funeral Home, Middletown and Knowlton roads, Middletown.

Burial: Immaculate Heart Cemetery, Linwood.

Contributions: Immaculate Conception Church, 21 W. Eighth St., Marcus Hook, PA 19061.

Notes: Mr. Calvarese was born 9/12/1928.
