Text of Obituary: Alfonzo "Moon" Bonacquisti, 65, a lifelong Chester resident and former produce merchant, died April 18 at home following a lengthy illness.
Born and raised in Chester, Mr. Bonacquisti was a resident of his late address for 18 years. The son of the late Ernesto and Mary Cutillo Bonacquisti, he attended the old Franklin Elementary School and was a lifetime member of the Franklin Fire Co.
He was a truck driver for the Chester Department of Sanitation for 15 years. He previously was a self-employed fruit and vegetable merchant.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Bonacquisti served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Chester.
Mr. Bonacquisti is survived by his wife, Margaret Bean Bonacquisti; a daughter, Mary Grace Bonacquisti, at home; three stepdaughters, Carol Anderson of Chester, Alice Dunning of Port Jervis, N.Y., and Irene Archaki, at home; six brothers, Anthony Bonacquisti and Vincent Bonacquisti, both of Chester, Albert Bonacquisti of Springfield, Ernest Bonacquisti of Brookhaven, Michael Bonacquisti of Chalfonte, Del., and Emilio Bonacquisti of Parkside; three sisters, Caroline Ferriola of Westtown, Rose Gregg of Chester and Anna Pollock of Brookhaven; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 12 noon Turesday at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 2316 Providence Ave., Chester, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1 p.m. at St. Michael's R.C. Church, Avenue of the States, Chester. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple.
Family and friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday and after 12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
