Miss Alice Edwards

MISS ALICE EDWARDS
May 4, 1858 - May 30, 1940
Miss Edwards was a member of the Madison Street Methodist Church, of which her father was sexton when it was located on Fifth Street. Born at Richmond, Ind., she was a graduate of Chester High School and Gilberts Academy, Broad and Potter Streets, teaching at the Graham School and being principal of the Thurlow and Horace Mann Schools. Besides Mr. Bartow, she is survived by three other nephews, Harry E. and William L. Bartow, and Logan B. Edwards.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Minshall parlors with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. The Rev. J. Perry Cox, of Madison Street Church will officiate.

Family reference: Bartow; Edwards. She was daughter of Joseph Johnson Edwards b. Sept. 1, 1824 and Eliza Hobson. Joseph and Eliza were married May 28, 1846. He died February 16, 1893.Thanks to Dennis H. Bartow, bartoden@comcast.net, great, great, great nephew for contributing this obituary.
