Sarah Elizabeth Staats Deakyne - Born Feb. 14, 1831 in Taylor's Bridge, Delaware - Died
Aug. 15, 1917 Chester, Pennsylvania
The funeral of Mrs. Sarah E. Deakyne, an aged resident of the Seventh Ward, who died last
week at the advanced age of 87 years, was held Saturday afternoon from the late home of
the deceased at 512 Parker street. Rev. C. Lee Gaul, pastor of Trinity M. E. Church, Third and Parker Streets was in
charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Frank Innis, Sacred solos were rendered by Mrs.
Albert Hatch Yarnall, of Media, a niece of Mrs. David W. Deakyne.
In his sermon, Dr. Gaul paid tribute to the loyal Christian principles of the aged woman.
Six grandchildren acted as pallbearers, Harry and Charles R. Innis, Earl and Elwood
Deakyne of Ridley Park, Harry and George Deakyne of this city.
Interment was made at Chester Rural Cemetery,
Many floral offerings were sent by relatives and friends.
Five sisters and a brother of Mrs. Deakyne were in attendance at the funeral, some coming
from distant points, despite their advanced years.
